The newest addition to Advantage Tour's team of guides, Kilo was born in the town of Capira, west of Panama City. When he was young, and like a few other mischievous kids in rural areas, Kilo would on occasions, go around the forest with a slingshot hunting for birds. That is how he polished his impressive wildlife spotting skills, which are today put to much productive use as an outstanding birdwatching guide.

Kilo holds a degree in Tourism from the University of Panama, and while doing an internship at the Soberania Nat. Park, he discovered his true love for wildlife and specially birds. He later volunteered to be a part of the Ocean-to-Ocean migrant Raptor monitoring Program organized by Panama Audubon and the Smithsonian Institution. The coordinators of the program, who quickly noted his interest and skills, recommended him to take further training in the USA. He was awarded a scholarship to spend four months at Hawk Mountain Sanctuary to assist in monitoring and education programs for raptor conservation. Over the last couple of years he has taken quantum leaps in his birding skills, having learned the vocalizations of more than 300 different species of birds.

He speaks Spanish and English, and is currently preparing himself to receive his credentials as a Certified Interpretive Guide from NAI. When he is not on assignment with visiting hard-core birders, you will find him in some remote location of Panama, searching for his next life bird and sharing his passion for nature with others.
